As you embark on your journey home from the airport, a quick glance at the fuel gauge reveals a concerning truth: the needle is nearing the red line. Fatigued from travel, you opt for an obscure shortcut through a tranquil village, believing it may conserve fuel and allow you to reach home without pause for refueling.

“It’ll be fine, I just want to get home,” you reassure yourself.

However, while passing by some grand old residences, your car begins emitting peculiar sounds, ultimately leading you to a halt in front of one of the most imposing houses on the street. Embarrassment washes over you as you contemplate your predicament. Reluctantly, you decide to ask for assistance.

“Maybe a house of this size might have fuel for lawnmowers or generators,” you think optimistically as you knock on the door.

In a disorienting moment, your surroundings fade into darkness, and you awaken in a basement unfamiliar to you. A note left by the owner catches your eye:

"I’m sorry you have found yourself waking up here but you were snooping on my property and I was alerted to your presence.

I will be back shortly.

You will find the door to your room locked. Don’t be alarmed, this is for your own safety as my home has many unconventional contraptions that might otherwise ‘confuse’ you.

Feel free to look around, although I apologise for the rather limited decor."
